Exam Question Dissection - Exam Preparation Revision Practice

This is a work sheet that allows the student to dissect an exam question from any topic or exam level. GREAT for revision PERFECT for exam practice AMAZING to reduce long answer anxiety From long answer to short answer questions, this will help students to organise and formulate their answer in a logical and structured fashion. I have used this in the following ways: working alone with a question on the board, allow time for student to work through the question, then present them with a mark scheme. working in pairs with a different question each, they will work on their own question then, the students will coach their peer with the respective mark scheme.

My plan was to get through my topics in good time. Next I plan to interleave the topics that need revisiting so we can go over them again but with tasks and quizzes opposed to teacher delivery. The example provided is for a functional anatomy unit which has an exam in January. It starts from early December but can be manipulated to suit all topics. Step 1 - divide your unit in to four main areas and write them in the four square table on page 2 Step 2 - slot the topics from each square in to the related color codes on the unit outline Step 3 - follow the order of delivery so that the students are getting varied content to help aid knowledge retention

In here you will find the following resources. All are easily adapted by teachers to suit all topics in any subjects at any level of learning 3 from this 3 from that: getting student to recall things from last lesson then at the end of the lesson you just taught as a debrief Brain Dump: student think back to previous lessons over the term to retrieve content Brain buddy book: depending on the topic students will use this process to retrieve information Name 2 things: students write down 2 things about a variety of previous lesson topics Terminology start: teacher adapts the document to suit previous lesson terminology to retrieve key words What How Why: designed to expand student thinking about previous topics
